Sobralia decora Bateman
two color forms

Sobralia is a genus of close to a hundred species. Distribution is throughout the tropical Americas. Plants are mostly terrestrial but can be advantageous and found growing epiphytically in accumulated detritus on tree limbs. Flowers are short-lived, generally about a day. They make up for this by flowering continuously over an extended period. This species, Sobralia decora, is found at low elevations throughout much of Central America. Our plants produce flowers about every ten days between May and September. It is distinguished by the short blackish pubescence found on the stems and leaf sheaths. – KF
